Curriculum Enhancement – Specials
In addition to core curricular areas, every student at Risen Savior Lutheran School participates in the following special curricular programs.
Spanish
Foreign language skills develop more rapidly during childhood and this age period presents a marvelous time to expose children to this opportunity. Spanish is offered in every grade once a week. Lessons get progressively more in depth as the children grow.
Art Appreciation
Every classroom has open-ended art projects where students can express their creativity without fear of judgment. The school’s Art Appreciation program introduces the children to master artists while developing their own artistic abilities.
Music
Music is a major component of any classroom. Songs help students learn, make transitions easier and build literacy skills. Our Music program enriches student experiences, helps students gain self-esteem and develops group interaction and performance.
Physical Education
Along with daily recess periods, students are provided a weekly Physical Education class where organized physical activity is provided. Healthy habits, focused exercise and organized physical activities are provided our students.
Computer Lab
A special climate-controlled Computer Lab allows Risen Savior to bring technology to our students in relevant, meaningful ways. Students learn appropriate computer skills in a safe environment – ranging from simple navigation to more advance uses of Microsoft programs.
Library
Students at Risen Savior Lutheran School are encouraged to read. As a supportive function of this goal, students are provided regular library sessions where they are familiarized with types of literature, intentional reading sessions and encouragement to read at home.
