Sermon Series: U-turn

The Bible is filled with u-turn stories, turn around stories. Sometimes God completely transforms someone. Other times He chooses the least likely person for a particular task. Either way, God brings about life’s u-turns in rather surprising ways… because you’re never too far gone for God to have you back!

Rejoice greatly, O Daughter of Zion! Shout, Daughter of Jerusalem!
See, your king comes to you, righteous and having salvation, on a colt, the foal of a donkey.
Zechariah 9:9
We enter into the drama of the last week of Jesus on Palm Sunday when He enters Jerusalem amid shouts of “Hosanna!” In a matter of days the crowds will shout “Crucify Him!” And three days later the shouts turn triumphantly into, “He is risen!” Join us as we enter the drama with the throngs of people who continue that victorious echo proclaiming our risen, living, life giving Savior!

The Christus Chorus of Concordia University, St. Paul, Minnesota, will present “The Light Shines in the Darkness,” a concert of sacred music exploring the light of Christ and our reflection of it now and to eternity at Risen Savior on Sunday March 28, 2010 at 7:30pm.
The 32-voice choir, under the direction of Dr. David L. Mennicke, will perform a wide variety of styles, from classical literature to hymns, contemporary pieces, spirituals, and gospel music. The choir is grateful for the opportunity to perform some of the great music of the Church and to witness through music as an expression of faith. All members of the congregation are invited to attend and bring friends. A freewill offering will be taken to support the choir’s music ministry.

All is bright! When we sing Silent Night, Holy Night, all is calm, all is bright… is it really? We put lights on our houses and lights on our trees, but the only One who brings light into the dark places of our lives is Jesus Christ, the One whose birth we celebrate tonight!
