Walking Blindly

Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness.
1 John 2:9

Hating anyone is contrary to being in Christ.  Jesus is the atoning sacrifice not only for our sin, but for the sin of the whole world (1 John 2:2).  Claiming to be a Christian (being in the light) isn’t nearly as important to bearing fruit because one is a Christian.

Who do I hate?  Watching how politics in our country at this point in time is a flash-point for hate is really sad.  Neither side seems to be able to see their own hate, but is quick to bring accusation to the hate in the other.  But before I can talk about “those people” I need to examine my life and bring my own sin and hatred to Jesus, my Righteous Mediator.

Lord, I confess that while I claim to walk in the light, hatred can rear it’s ugly head in my life.  Forgive me so I don’t stumble in darkness, but walk in Your light.  Amen
